It’s all change at Pontypridd as a succession of projects to regenerate the major market town continue.

By securing support from the Welsh Assembly Government and Convergence, Rhondda Cynon Taf is set to deliver a regeneration scheme worth £10.5M which will enhance the town centre.

The funding will support a major remodelling of the street scene in and around Taff Street, High Street, Market Street, Church Street and Mill Street. The funding boost will also support grants to private sector property owners to carry our high quality improvements to the internal and external parts of their business premises.

Many projects have already been delivered. A new traffic scheme for the town centre, the multi-million pound Pennant House development, major plans approved for the Taff Vale Shopping Precinct, impressive art work, information boards and lighting schemes illustrate how Pontypridd town centre remains a major priority for Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.

The new landmark multi-storey car park and office building, named Ty Pennant, gives a clear indication of the major investment potential for Pontypridd.

A new traffic scheme has created a completely new atmosphere for shoppers and visitors to the town with the removal of vehicles during the busiest periods.

A major planning application for the Taff Vale Precinct has also been approved to fully regenerate the northern end of town. Visitors will notice that new signage has been installed throughout the town along with orientation maps and pedestrian signage.
