Pontypridd has enjoyed a rich cultural history for almost two hundred years and despite the passing of the centuries the arts have a prominent place in this famous valleys town.

It was here that a father and son joined combined their artistic forces to create the Welsh national anthem, “Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau”.

Also in Pontypridd worked a young collier who composed what is recognised as the Welsh rugby anthem in “Cwm Rhondda” which was named after a chapel in Hopkinstown.
