| Sainsbury's Site Welcomes Young Constructors |
|
Pupils studying construction at Pontypridd High School – the only Welsh school to teach this subject at GCSE age – have visited Sainsbury’s construction site to see their chosen subject come to life.Kier, who Sainsbury’s has appointed to manage construction of the store, introduced students to the site with a safety induction before taking them on a tour of the groundwork and piling that is currently taking place. The pupils were happy to have real experience of construction, as the school has struggled to find many active sites to visit in the five years the course has been set up. Huw Cripps, the school’s head teacher who attended the induction, said: "The visit proved to be a great opportunity for our pupils to experience first-hand the variety of job opportunities within the construction of the new Sainsbury’s su Construction started on the new Sainsbury’s in September this year and is progressing well. In early December Kier expects to begin installing the steel framework of the store, which is when the store will begin to really take shape. Early next year, improvements will begin on the A470 roundabout next to the site. This will improve general traffic flow and provide a new entrance for the store. If anyone would like more information about the Sainsbury’s store, they should contact the community relations team on Freephone 0800 130 3270.
