A £10.5m commitment to Pontypridd aims to create an attractive and prosperous town centre, with a high quality and diverse range of shops, greater employment opportunities for local people, and a town centre that people can be proud of.

Investment creating high quality and attractive streets, alongside town centre property improvements, will help to provide the required economic environment to attract further private sector investment into Pontypridd.

The major announcement that the Council has secured £10.5m, including funding from the Welsh Assembly Government through the European Regional Development Fund and Targeted Match Funding, as well as committing its own resources, will help to transform Pontypridd so it has a better quality environment in which to work, live, shop and visit.

The regeneration of Pontypridd will focus investment on:

• The streets and public spaces
• The town's properties
