Individual commercial property owners are benefiting from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's funding package for the regeneration of the town centre of Pontypridd. Through the Pontypridd Townscape Enhancement Programme, traders have the opportunity of applying for funding of up to 70% towards enhancing their commercial property.
When commercial property owners or tenants contact the Council about the scheme, they are being visited by officers who guide the mthrough the entire application process and the positive feedback from business people is testament to the success of the project so far.
Pontypridd benefits from a wide range of attractive buildings, with distinctive architectural features, that contribute towards the town centre’s character. The historic nature of many of the buildings is recognised by the designation of Conservation areas in the town centre.
To help to protect high quality buildings within Pontypridd town centre, and to assist with enhancements of town centre properties, a Commercial Improvement Area has been designated.
Investment will help to create a consistent quality to Pontypridd's commercial properties, creating an attractive and vibrant town centre.
The funding packages will focus on high quality improvements to the external fabric of buildings, for instance reinstating traditional shop fronts, as well as internal works, and it is hoped that the enhancements will attract new businesses and jobs to the town.
